Role Overview

Kong is hiring a Staff Product Manager for AI Management to shape the future of AI connectivity and runtime governance. Located in San Francisco, California, the role focuses on delivering high-velocity product solutions for agentic AI architectures and gateway management.

Key Responsibilities

Design and execute the roadmap and vision for AI Management modules covering LLM routing, policies, context management, guardrails, and evaluation.
Direct cross-functional strategies across engineering, product marketing, executive leadership, and design teams.
Manage the complete product lifecycle through precise specifications, backlog prioritization, and feature delivery balanced against platform dependencies.
Connect AI Management capabilities directly to the core platform infrastructure for integrated data and control planes.
Partner with engineering leads to accelerate delivery speed, scope projects, and navigate trade-offs.
Assist regional field operations, technical customer engagements, and sales enablement initiatives to validate product-market fit.

Requirements

Possess seven to ten years of technical product management experience shipping products within developer tools, API platforms, or AI infrastructure.
Translate technical challenges such as request routing, data plane architectures, and Model Context Protocol servers into clear product requirements.
Demonstrate a track record of driving execution and managing dependencies across distributed R&D teams.
Communicate technical strategies effectively through strong verbal and written skills across various organizational levels.
Utilize project management instincts to track progress, surface blockers, and maintain roadmap schedules.

Nice to Have

Direct background in agentic AI development, AI gateways, AI observability, prompt management, guardrails, Model Context Protocol servers, and agent-to-agent communications.
Knowledge of enterprise platform engineering, cloud-native architectures, Kubernetes, data planes, and control planes.
