About this role

This role focuses on designing and owning end-to-end data frameworks that measure business health and unit economics, making it an ideal fit for an experienced professional with a strong quantitative background.

Role Overview

The Staff Data Scientist serves as a strategic partner to executive leadership across finance, marketing, operations, and data science. In this hybrid position requiring two days per week in the Palo Alto office, the professional bridges estimated and realized lifetime value, models complex healthcare reimbursement cycles, and establishes operational margin constraints. The work directly influences marketing spend, pricing strategies, retention management, and long-term profitability projections.

Key Responsibilities

Build sophisticated lifetime value models that account for healthcare reimbursement volatility and the time value of money.
Develop predictive models for actual reimbursement rates across self-pay tracks and insurance allowables.
Establish foundational frameworks incorporating operational realities such as wage ranges and state-by-state clinician licensing costs.
Optimize cross-sell dynamics and basket composition between clinical services and physical supplement lines.
Create advanced attribution models to quantify how product lines interact and drive adoption.
Design and analyze supplement pricing experiments to maximize margins without harming long-term retention.
Leverage LTV and margin frameworks to help marketing determine diminishing returns on ad spend.
Build uplift models to identify at-risk customers who respond positively to specific churn interventions.
Construct stochastic macro-simulations to help leadership and finance stress-test the business model against shifting insurance allowable rates.

Requirements

8+ years of experience delivering high-impact data science solutions.
Master's or PhD in Econometrics, Economics, Applied Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline.
Background in D2C subscription businesses, healthcare operations, or marketplaces.
Mastery of predictive modeling and causal inference techniques like propensity score matching, uplift modeling, synthetic controls, or diff-in-diff.
Experience building, deploying, and maintaining production-grade machine learning models with clean, well-tested code.
Deep expertise in backtesting, validation, error analysis, and model evaluation methodologies.
Proven track record in survival analysis, churn forecasting, and building attribution models.
Experience structuring systemic business simulations or stochastic modeling.
Active adoption of generative AI and Large Language Models for personal development workflows.
Authorization to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
