Midi Health builds a virtual-first platform focused on perimenopause and menopause care, utilizing technology to reduce administrative burdens and scale clinical efficiency. The engineering organization needs a director to mentor talent, partner with clinical and product departments, and integrate agentic systems into complex operational workflows.

What you will do
- Lead the engineering roadmap and execution for clinician-facing tools, care delivery systems, and AI-powered automation.
- Identify opportunities to use artificial intelligence and agentic systems to automate workflows and augment clinical staff.
- Build and direct high-performing engineering teams with a culture of ownership and high technical standards.
- Remain hands-on through architecture decisions, code reviews, prototyping, and AI-assisted development.
- Partner closely with product, clinical, operations, and data science leaders to translate care delivery problems into technical solutions.
- Drive engineering quality, velocity, reliability, and operational health across the designated area.
- Hire, mentor, and develop engineers and engineering leaders as the organization continues to scale.
What you need
- Demonstrate a deep software engineering foundation with meaningful experience building sophisticated applications as a senior individual contributor.
- Bring 5 or more years of engineering management experience leading organizations of 10 or more engineers.
- Exhibit a player-coach mindset that balances leadership responsibilities with technical credibility.
- Possess applied artificial intelligence experience, including recent work with AI coding agents or language model technologies.
- Apply strong systems thinking to translate multi-step human workflows into technology solutions.
- Display executive-level communication and judgment when partnering with senior technical and clinical stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience with AI/ML engineering, LLM-powered products, agentic systems, or workflow automation.
- Experience building internal tools or software for complex operational users.
- Experience with Python, Django, React, and AWS.
- Experience in healthcare or another highly regulated environment.
- Familiarity with EHRs such as Athenahealth, clinical workflows, or HIPAA-regulated systems.

What is the remote or hybrid work policy?
The position requires a hybrid schedule with two days per week in either the San Francisco or Palo Alto office. The remaining time can be performed remotely.

The estimated salary range is between $250,000 and $325,000 per year. Additional compensation includes equity and benefits based on experience and skills.
