Role Overview

As a Staff Data Scientist, the individual acts as a technical anchor and force multiplier within the data organization. The professional translates ambiguous business challenges into structured technical roadmaps and builds automated machine learning infrastructure from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement automated machine learning systems while making pragmatic architectural choices and writing production code
Convert complex business questions regarding customer acquisition and churn dynamics into actionable technical strategies
Manage the complete end-to-end deployment of machine learning models to guarantee reliability and integration into production infrastructure
Collaborate across Engineering, Product, and Business teams to align technical execution with core company metrics
Establish development standards, author design documents, and conduct peer reviews with Data and Analytics Engineering partners
Accountable for the entire lifecycle of models from initial data design through to long-term business performance
Mentor senior and mid-level data scientists to foster continuous learning and elevate technical standards

Requirements

Eight or more years of professional experience in data science or machine learning engineering with a history of delivering measurable business results
High proficiency in Python and SQL alongside expert knowledge of pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, and at least one major machine learning framework
Capability to handle unique conceptual problems and build solutions for long-term scalability
Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders without authority and explain technical logic to executive leadership
Direct experience with CI/CD, MLOps, and model lifecycles within cloud-based production environments like AWS or GCP
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in a quantitative field such as data science, statistics, economics, computer science, or applied mathematics

Nice to Have

Experience building 0-to-1 machine learning models from exploratory notebooks into automated production pipelines
Background in customer behavior and propensity modeling including churn, lead scoring, and lifetime value predictions
Expertise in applied forecasting, time-series analysis, anomaly detection, and non-stationary data planning
Practical skills in building optimization engines for marketing spend and inventory management
Causal inference experience covering quasi-experiments and difference-in-differences methodologies
