Sr. Manager, Machine Learning Engineering, Ads Measurement Products
About this role
Pinterest needs a technical leader to address the challenge of quantifying advertising performance accurately while maintaining strict user privacy standards. The Measurement Products team builds first- and third-party solutions that help advertisers understand campaign effectiveness and make informed investment decisions across complex digital ecosystems.
This senior manager will direct machine learning, backend, and data engineering teams to design scalable platforms for incrementality, anomaly detection, and automated insights. The person stepping into this role defines multi-year technical strategies and partners closely with product, data science, and infrastructure groups to deliver rigorous production systems.
Ideal candidates bring a deep background in ads measurement methodologies alongside proven experience scaling engineering organizations. Someone who excels here balances statistical rigor with product usability, guiding cross-functional teams through complex privacy and data constraints.
What you will do
- Lead and grow a multidisciplinary team of machine learning, backend, and data engineers focused on ads measurement products and platforms.
- Establish the multi-year technical roadmap and architectural vision for measurement systems that handle privacy-constrained data.
- Collaborate with product, data science, and ads engineering partners to productionize causal inference and experimentation solutions.
- Drive the development of scalable infrastructure supporting conversion lift, brand lift, marketing mix modeling, and clean-room measurement.
- Influence broader ads engineering strategies by identifying opportunities to improve platform speed, scale, and usability.
- Hire, mentor, and develop engineering managers and senior technical leaders within an inclusive culture.
- Champion AI-assisted development tools to accelerate engineering workflows while maintaining rigorous standards for data protection and validation.
What you need
- Have ten or more years of industry experience building software, machine learning, or large-scale data systems.
- Possess at least five years of experience managing engineering teams responsible for production systems.
- Hold a bachelor's degree in computer science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Demonstrate meaningful experience with ads measurement, ad effectiveness, or incrementality methodologies.
- Show a strong understanding of experimentation, causal inference, and probabilistic modeling using noisy or incomplete data.
- Bring a proven track record of setting technical vision and partnering across organizational boundaries to deliver product impact.
