Role Overview

As a Staff Data Scientist within the Core organization focusing on Trust and Safety plus Content Quality, the professional shapes people-facing and business-facing products at Pinterest. The mandate centers on evolving moderation from reactive reporting into a predictive, metrics-driven operating system that safeguards the platform while keeping it inspiring and useful.

Key Responsibilities

Develop a deep understanding of the trust and safety platform by quantifying full-funnel opportunities and risks.
Lead projects addressing trust and safety challenges across various funnel stages.
Design and productionize robust, scalable machine learning and evaluation frameworks covering statistical measurement, product recommendation, and forecasting.
Establish best practices for instrumentation and experimentation to guide product engineering teams.
Apply scientific rigor and statistical methods to product creation, development, and improvement.
Build and prototype iterative analysis pipelines to deliver insights at scale while improving data structures and metrics.
Partner cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, designers, and researchers to shape future user experiences.

Requirements

Minimum of 10 years of experience analyzing data in a fast-paced, data-driven environment with a proven ability to apply scientific methods to web-scale data.
Extensive experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches across machine learning, statistical modeling, forecasting, econometrics, or related fields.
Rigorous analytical approach demonstrating skepticism, attention to detail, and a commitment to high-quality results.
Ability to manipulate large, complex, and high-dimensionality data sets using SQL or other database languages alongside a scripting language like Python or R.
Excellent communication skills for explaining complex findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience.
