The Software Engineer, Developer Experience role at Replit involves boosting engineering velocity and decreasing friction across the development lifecycle in Foster City, CA, or on a hybrid basis. This full-time position is designed for a technical professional eager to act as a force multiplier for product development teams by optimizing internal tools, build pipelines, and codebases.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain and improve codebase structures, encompassing TypeScript monorepos, Go services, npm packages, and internal agentic tooling.
Optimize build and test pipelines to reduce build times and enhance developer iteration speed.
Drive code generation and maintain type-safe interfaces across service boundaries including GraphQL, Protocol Buffers, gRPC, and OpenAPI.
Establish code quality standards via automated tools like TypeScript, ESLint, Prettier, and Go linters and formatters, alongside custom rule creation.
Improve developer onboarding and streamline the local development setup process.
Collaborate with platform teams to upgrade deployment workflows, infrastructure integrations, and external tooling.
Lead migrations to modern, faster tools to keep the codebase fresh.
Collaborate with the internal AI platform team to enhance AI Agent outputs and influence stack strategy.
Handle internal and external dependency management while acting as a company representative for open-source libraries.

Requirements

Strong proficiency in TypeScript, Go, and/or Nix.
Deep expertise in modern build systems and toolchains such as Vite, webpack, esbuild, and Go module systems.
Practical experience using testing frameworks, linters, formatters, and code generation utilities.
Demonstrated background in managing large-scale codebases or monorepos.

Nice to Have

Prior experience building self-service developer platforms like CI/CD, infrastructure, or specialized tooling used by multiple engineering groups.
Exposure to AI-native development workflows, including Claude Code, Cursor, OpenCode, or custom agent skills.
Background in open-source leadership or active community contributions.
