Role Overview

Snowflake is hiring a Software Engineer for the Cortex AI Functions Platform team located in Warsaw (Lixa C). The team constructs the platform enabling customers to execute AI directly from SQL over their tables without data movement. Current projects involve multi-modal inference architecture, batch-scale quality gates, expanding input data types beyond plain text, and scaling throughput, cost, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement optimal solutions for complex and ambiguous problems.
Participate in the complete lifecycle of the AI functions platform, covering design, implementation, rollout, and production support.
Collaborate with research, product, and engineering partners to shape product development strategy.
Mentor less experienced engineers on the team.

Requirements

Minimum of 4 years of experience in building production backend or distributed systems using C++, Java, Go, Python, or a comparable language.
Bachelor of Science in a technical field such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
Background in designing and operating high-throughput services with management of concurrency, backpressure, partial failures, and observability.
Experience in designing service or RPC APIs like REST or gRPC.
Familiarity with software engineering best practices including programming, testing, version control, CI/CD, containers, and agile development.
Capability to build distributed systems ensuring high throughput alongside reliability.
Curiosity for open-ended problems with the ability to turn loosely defined challenges into scoped and testable designs.
Capacity to communicate complex concepts and results to leadership.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Nice to Have

Master of Science or PhD degree in a technical field.
Experience with SQL engines, query execution, or large-scale data systems.
Hands-on background in the MLOps field, including deploying machine learning models.
