About this role

Role Overview

CodeRabbit is seeking a Senior or Staff Platform Engineer to join the team in San Francisco, offering remote flexibility. This founding role suits an experienced infrastructure expert eager to design and scale the foundational compute and orchestration systems powering advanced AI tools.

Key Responsibilities

Establish the platform function from scratch, driving technical direction and building the infrastructure layer for the entire product suite.
Own and scale the multi-region GCP footprint, ensuring high reliability, performance, and security across distributed environments.
Make foundational architectural decisions that support the rapid expansion of AI-driven code review and agentic change management platforms.
Design, configure, and maintain robust Kubernetes control planes, custom operators, and container orchestration workflows.
Partner with the engineering team to deploy reliable automation, Infrastructure as Code, and advanced observability tooling.

Requirements

Bring seven or more years of professional experience in Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering, focusing heavily on building platforms rather than just operating them.
Possess deep, hands-on expertise with Kubernetes, including control plane configuration, operator development, scheduler tuning, and runtime debugging.
Demonstrate extensive background in building and operating large-scale distributed systems, with a solid understanding of consistency, availability, and production failure recovery.
Show strong cloud compute experience on GCP or AWS, working directly with core compute, networking, and storage primitives below the standard console layer.
Maintain high proficiency in Docker and container runtime internals, covering image layering, networking, security contexts, and build optimizations.

Skills and Tools

Container and Orchestration: Kubernetes, CRDs, operators, admission webhooks, RBAC, network policies, autoscaling, and Docker/OCI toolchains.
Distributed Systems: Queuing, eventual consistency, backpressure, and graceful degradation.
Infrastructure as Code: Advanced Terraform, module design, state management, and programmatic provisioning.
Cloud Platforms: GCP services including GKE, Cloud Run, VPC, IAM, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, and Load Balancing.
Programming: Node.js, TypeScript, or Go for platform tooling, operators, and automation.
Observability and Systems: Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, Linux internals, TCP/IP networking, DNS, and eBPF.

Salary and Benefits

Annual Salary: $220,000 to $280,000 in USD.
Employment Type: Full-Time.
