Role Overview

The Senior/Staff Engineer, Application & Product Security position at Grow Therapy is a full-time role focused on shaping application security and secure software development practices for an engineering team of approximately 145 members. This opportunity is well-suited for an experienced security professional with a strong coding background who wants to embed secure defaults, threat modeling, and CI guardrails into the software development life cycle, including for emerging AI and agent features. Key Responsibilities

Champion a secure-by-default culture by establishing defense in depth across frameworks, architecture, and daily development workflows.
Formulate security requirements and collaborate closely with engineering teams to integrate them into new applications and services.
Examine source code directly to gain a comprehensive, working understanding of products beyond surface-level tool outputs.
Lead the product security roadmap alongside product management, engineering, and the wider security organization.
Partner with product, engineering, DevOps, and service teams to ship secure software efficiently.
Design solutions to remediate vulnerabilities and mitigate risks, while researching relevant attack vectors and threats.
Conduct security risk assessments, hands-on penetration testing, and threat modeling, translating discoveries into secure coding education for software engineers.

Requirements

Bring six or more years of professional experience specializing in application or product security.
Possess sufficient coding proficiency to automate repetitive tasks and build frameworks or services that resolve real security challenges.
Demonstrate hands-on experience working with microservice architectures.
Collaborate effectively across both a dedicated security team and the broader engineering organization.
Prioritize security work based on actual risk rather than raw vulnerability counts.
Demonstrate a hands-on approach to understanding codebases rather than solely relying on external SAST, DAST, and SBOM tools.
Communicate and partner successfully with product managers, service teams, and engineers while maintaining a strong interest in product functionality.

Base Compensation: Fully remote positions range from $182,000 to $240,000 USD annually, while hybrid positions range from $217,000 to $288,000 USD annually, varying by experience, qualifications, and working location.
