Senior Software Engineer, Native Mobile
About this role
Translating existing React Native flows into performant native implementations in Swift and Kotlin forms the core of daily operations on the App Infra team at Coinbase. Engineers in this group utilize AI-assisted code generation to rewrite the retail mobile application, building core app surfaces and contributing to native mobile agentic workflows.
The Consumer and Business group handles the foundation of the future mobile platform as product teams onboard to the new codebase. Individuals who thrive here possess deep mobile expertise, take ownership of architectural patterns, and maintain strict quality standards across diverse device tiers during a large migration period.
What you will do
- Define architectural patterns and build workflows to accelerate frontend engineers across the organization.
- Build core application surfaces in Swift and Kotlin while translating legacy flows into performant native implementations.
- Orchestrate LLM-driven translation within the AI-assisted code generation loop to validate architecture and ensure production-grade outputs.
- Partner with onboarding product teams to review pull requests, eliminate flaky tests, and resolve integration challenges.
- Drive comprehensive performance optimization to eliminate loading indicators and scroll jank across multiple device tiers.
- Manage technical debt and ensure feature synchronization during the dual-app parity transition period.
What you need
- Have at least five years of professional software engineering experience focusing on iOS or Android platforms.
- Demonstrate a proven ability to build and ship performant mobile applications with strong frame stability and cold start optimization.
- Show proficiency in either Swift or Kotlin along with a working knowledge of the alternate language and willingness to develop cross-platform fluency.
- Bring hands-on familiarity with mobile CI/CD pipelines, release processes, and build systems.
- Utilize generative AI responsibly while maintaining rigorous human oversight over workflow efficiency and code quality.

The target annual base salary for this position ranges from $186,065 to $218,900 USD. Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility and benefits.
