Role Overview

Coinbase is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer Intern for the HR Technology team within People Success. The position runs for 12 weeks during the summer of 2027 in a hybrid format in New York, NY. The intern will own a scoped project from discovery to production, making technical choices across the stack to build software that automates manual human resources tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Own a project from defining the scope with stakeholders through designing, building, testing, and delivering production software within the internship duration.

Build custom applications, integrations, and AI-powered workflows to automate manual processes and improve employee experience with proper quality checks and human oversight.

Make technical choices regarding data modeling, API integrations, application logic, and user interfaces while balancing speed, maintainability, and security.

Partner with internal customers to understand needs, map user journeys, and prioritize roadmaps.

Define success metrics, gather feedback, and use evidence such as time saved and error reduction to guide iterations.

Requirements

Currently pursue a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or have equivalent hands-on engineering experience.

Demonstrate the ability to build, test, debug, and ship software through academic projects, hackathons, or prior internships.

Possess hands-on experience building AI-powered prototypes or workflows using large language models, including output validation and data protection.

Show the ability to take a scoped project through delivery by breaking down ambiguous requirements and communicating trade-offs.

Utilize generative AI responsibly with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency and quality.
