Coder is seeking a remote Senior Software Engineer to build and evolve the systems behind its agentic development experience across North America. This full-time position suits an experienced developer who wants to design production software, integrate AI agents with development environments, and shape modern developer infrastructure.

Role Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer, the focus is on developing the agent harness, workflows, and integrations that bridge AI agents with actual development environments. The role involves designing production-ready systems, extending provider-agnostic architectures, and collaborating with cross-functional partners. Engineers own their projects from the initial implementation phase all the way through rollout and iteration, while maintaining a strong emphasis on reliability and operability.

Key Responsibilities

Design and construct production systems primarily using Go, alongside React and TypeScript where applicable.
Enhance agent execution, context management, streaming, tool utilization, and long-running workflows.
Broaden the provider-agnostic architecture as models and their capabilities continue to evolve.
Form reliable integrations that connect agents, tools, workspaces, and developer infrastructure.
Take full ownership of projects from implementation to rollout and ongoing iteration.
Participate actively in code reviews, design reviews, and technical discussions.
Work alongside Product and Design teams to translate agent capabilities into practical developer experiences.
Boost the overall reliability, performance, and operability of agentic systems.

Requirements

Strong background in building and operating production software systems.
Hands-on professional experience utilizing Go.
Practical experience working with React and TypeScript.
Experience designing and building systems centered around LLMs or agentic workflows.
Familiarity with agent loops, model APIs, context management, or tool calling.
Solid comprehension of distributed systems and production reliability standards.
Working knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS.
Exceptional problem-solving capabilities with a comfort level around technical ambiguity.
A collaborative mindset that contributes beyond personal code via reviews and knowledge sharing.

Nice to Have

Experience developing coding agents, cloud development environments, or developer tools.
Familiarity with MCP, multi-agent systems, or agent tools.
Background in remote execution, sandboxed environments, or isolated compute.
Experience creating integrations across multiple distinct model providers.
Additional familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, or Linux operating systems.
Prior open-source contributions or direct experience working alongside customers.
