Senior Software Engineer - Managed Kubernetes
About this role
Role Overview
The Senior Software Engineer position on the Managed Kubernetes team involves designing and scaling infrastructure tailored for artificial intelligence workloads. This role is well-suited for an experienced software professional based in San Francisco, San Jose, or Bellevue who wants to build high-performance distributed systems. Professionals work primarily from the designated office locations four days per week, with Tuesdays designated for remote work.
Key Responsibilities
Engineers design and maintain scalable control plane services, custom Kubernetes controllers, and operators while developing automation for complete cluster lifecycle management. Responsibilities include building GPU-aware orchestration systems to handle resource allocation and scheduling. Team members collaborate with network specialists on advanced connectivity solutions, including CNI integration, high-performance fabrics, and RDMA. Additional duties involve building model serving infrastructure, developing internal CLI tools, writing resilient distributed systems, and participating in on-call rotations to support production environments.
Requirements
Candidates must bring at least six years of professional software engineering experience, including a documented history of driving technical projects from design through production. Essential qualifications include a deep understanding of Kubernetes internals, scheduling, and custom resource definitions. Applicants need a solid grasp of distributed systems fundamentals, large-scale cluster control plane operations, and observability tools like Prometheus and Grafana. Strong programming capabilities in both Go and Python are required alongside comprehensive knowledge of Linux, networking, and containers.
Nice to Have
