Role Overview

Lambda is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Compute team to help build and scale GPU-first cloud infrastructure in San Francisco. This full-time position suits an experienced developer with a background in backbone infrastructure and distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain software for GPU and CPU compute infrastructure to maximize performance, reliability, and scalability.
Create and implement services dedicated to virtual machine and bare-metal instancing.
Build distributed systems focused on orchestrating and managing compute resources across multiple hardware SKUs.
Debug and resolve intricate issues found within production and development environments.
Take ownership of incident management and participate in on-call rotations.
Partner across multiple internal teams and clarify ambiguous project requirements through detailed RFCs.

Requirements

Five or more years of professional experience writing production code in Python or Go.
Five or more years of hands-on experience handling virtualization hardware management and bare-metal configurations.
Comfort navigating Linux environments with the ability to troubleshoot problems spanning the networking, hardware, and operating system layers.
Demonstrated capability to independently diagnose complex systems while communicating clearly with infrastructure, software, and vendor teams.

Nice to Have

Prior background working with high-performance computing setups or GPU infrastructure.
Practical knowledge of Kubernetes or Slurm cluster management.
Familiarity with public cloud internals including fleet health, security, KVM, virtualization, and QEMU.
Background utilizing durable execution systems such as Temporal.
