Role Overview

The Senior Software Engineer-Backend role at Hinge Health is a full-time remote hybrid position based out of the Bengaluru headquarters. This opportunity is well-suited for an experienced developer who wants to design and maintain scalable backend systems that improve member health outcomes using modern technology and artificial intelligence.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver large projects that introduce new product capabilities and act as a maintainer for key code repositories.
Break down complex problems into manageable tasks to ensure steady delivery while resolving root cause incidents.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to roadmap and execute technical strategies.
Mentor junior engineers through thoughtful code reviews and real-time pairing sessions.
Design and build AI-powered clinical agents using LangGraph.js for stateful orchestration within a shared NestJS service.
Integrate LangSmith for end-to-end AI observability, prompt versioning, and CI-gated quality checks.
Develop agentic workflows leveraging LLMs such as Claude Sonnet via AWS Bedrock.
Contribute to Member-Centric Knowledge Graphs and RAG-based retrieval systems for clinical context and decision-making.
Improve the maintainability, availability, and performance of team features while documenting solutions.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
At least 5 years of non-internship full-time professional software development experience.
Minimum of 3 years of work experience utilizing Node.js and TypeScript.
Experience using AI tools like GitHub Copilot or Cursor.
Demonstrated experience delivering large software projects or features in a production environment.
Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience building applications with LLMs, prompt engineering, model integration, and evaluating output quality.
Experience with agentic AI frameworks such as LangGraph, LangChain, or similar orchestration libraries.
Familiarity with LangSmith or equivalent AI observability and evaluation platforms.
Understanding of responsible AI practices, PHI/PII handling, and guardrails in regulated environments.
Availability to participate in late evening meetings aligned with San Francisco working hours from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PT.

Nice to Have

Experience with AI technologies for software design and coding assistance.
Background in mentoring or onboarding junior engineers.
Familiarity with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and scalable architectures.
Experience working in healthcare technology or other regulated environments.
Exposure to AWS cloud hosting and Agile development practices.
