Role Overview

Pangram Labs is seeking a full-time Senior Software Engineer with a backend focus to design, build, and scale production systems for artificial intelligence detection. Based in Brooklyn, New York, this role suits an experienced engineer who wants to own core infrastructure and solve complex scaling challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Build and launch scalable backend services and application programming interfaces to deliver artificial intelligence detection capabilities.

Take ownership of production system reliability, performance monitoring, and observability.

Design and maintain data pipelines, caching layers, and service infrastructure hosted on Amazon Web Services.

Partner with machine learning engineers to deploy and run models in production environments.

Troubleshoot and eliminate system bottlenecks as user traffic and application complexity increase.

Set and elevate engineering standards regarding testing procedures, deployments, and incident management.

Requirements

Minimum of five years of professional software engineering experience centered on backend development.

Demonstrated fluency in Python along with Django or similar Python web frameworks.

Comprehensive knowledge of backend architecture concepts including RESTful application programming interface design, relational databases, message queues, caching methods, and asynchronous task handling.

Practical background utilizing Amazon Web Services infrastructure such as EC2, ECS, EKS, RDS, S3, SQS, CloudFront, and Lambda.

Proven ability to architect systems focused on high availability, horizontal growth, and resilience.

Advanced debugging and performance-profiling capabilities within live production settings.

Nice to Have

Background in deploying and operating deep learning models in production environments, covering model serving tools and graphics processing unit infrastructure.

Knowledge of frontend technologies like React to facilitate cross-functional teamwork.
