Key Responsibilities

Design and build backend services and APIs from scratch using TypeScript and Node.js.
Build real-time voice systems, including SIP/RTP media handling and STT/TTS pipelines with strict latency requirements.
Make foundational architecture decisions that shape the platform for future scalability.
Operate systems within real-time, high-availability voice environments.
Manage data stores, event streams, and deployments utilizing Docker and Kubernetes on AWS.
Collaborate effectively with a distributed team located across Seattle and Europe using async-first communication norms.

Requirements

3+ years of professional software engineering experience, with 4+ years preferred.
Strong depth in TypeScript or Python, alongside a demonstrated ability to work in other languages.
Experience with Node.js backend development and modern web service patterns such as REST APIs, async processing, and event-driven systems.
Familiarity with DevOps basics including containers, deployment workflows, and infrastructure configurations like Terraform or Helm.
Ability to navigate mobile codebases on Android or iOS to make focused changes.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with a pragmatic approach to tradeoffs.
Autonomous execution on well-scoped work, active use of AI tooling as a force multiplier, and honest communication regarding blockers.

Nice to Have

Experience with VoIP or telephony technologies like SIP, RTP, or WebRTC, or a strong interest in learning them.
Carrier or B2B platform context.
Experience with Databricks, Kafka, or streaming data pipelines.
Familiarity with AWS services such as DynamoDB, S3, Kinesis, and EKS.

Annual base salary ranging from $113,000 to $197,000 USD, determined by role scope, skills, experience, location, and market data.
