Key Responsibilities

Lead, coach, and mentor a team of approximately six software engineers while establishing healthy delivery practices and meaningful career growth paths.
Own end-to-end delivery and operational outcomes for the Protect Engineering team, balancing product roadmaps with system reliability, security, and technical debt.
Partner closely with Product and Data Science teams to translate customer, carrier, and detection needs into clear execution plans.
Guide the technical direction of distributed cloud and data systems utilized for spam and fraud call detection.
Establish predictable planning rhythms, surface project risks early, and coordinate cross-team dependencies.
Strengthen production ownership through better observability, incident response, performance management, and continuous improvement.
Help the team adopt AI-assisted software development workflows while maintaining strict standards for design, testing, and security.
Act as a player-coach by reviewing technical designs, unblocking complex work, and contributing directly to high-leverage initiatives.

Requirements

Around 7 to 8 years of relevant software engineering experience, which includes at least 3 to 4 years in an engineering leadership role.
Demonstrated background in leading, coaching, and developing software engineers through feedback, delegation, and performance management.
Strong expertise in backend or distributed systems with the capability to guide architecture and design trade-offs.
Practical familiarity with AI-assisted software development tools and coding agents.
Proven track record of delivering and operating reliable production systems while balancing product delivery and platform health.
Excellent cross-functional communication skills with the ability to turn ambiguous goals into clear execution plans.
Professional proficiency in English alongside the ability to collaborate across diverse locations and disciplines.

Nice to Have

Experience operating as a player-coach for a small, highly technical engineering team.
Background in building or operating high-volume, low-latency distributed systems.
Prior experience working within fraud, spam, abuse, risk detection, or telecommunications sectors.
Familiarity with cloud-native production environments such as AWS and Kubernetes.
Experience partnering directly with Data Science teams and telecommunication technologies like SIP.
Working knowledge of programming languages including Scala, Haskell, Python, or JavaScript.
