Role Overview

Fireworks AI is looking for a Senior Revenue Accountant to join the finance team in San Mateo with remote flexibility. This role suits an experienced accounting professional who wants to support and scale end-to-end revenue operations during a period of rapid company growth.

Key Responsibilities

Execute the monthly revenue close by preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and schedules for deferred revenue, accounts receivable, unbilled receivables, and customer credits.
Conduct ASC 606 contract reviews for both new and existing customers to establish proper revenue recognition conclusions.
Analyze intricate or non-standard commercial agreements such as usage-based pricing, minimum commitments, discounts, credits, renewals, and modifications.
Cross-check revenue recognition figures against underlying billing, usage data, contracts, and the general ledger to resolve any discrepancies.
Partner with Revenue Operations, Billing, Sales, Legal, and Finance departments to align customer billing with accounting practices and evaluate new product pricing models.
Draft technical accounting memos, prepare audit schedules, and respond directly to external auditor inquiries.
Design automated improvements for revenue accounting workflows, internal controls, reporting, and systems integrations between CRM, billing, and ERP platforms.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field of study.
Minimum of five years of relevant accounting work experience with a strong focus on revenue recognition principles.
Practical working knowledge of ASC 606 standards and contract evaluation.
Proficiency in managing large datasets and reconciling information across various enterprise platforms.
Excellent problem-solving abilities, high attention to detail, and strong communication skills to guide cross-functional teams.
Capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced environment with constantly evolving processes.

Nice to Have

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.
Background in SaaS, cloud infrastructure, artificial intelligence, technology, or consumption-based business models.
Familiarity with NetSuite or other major ERP software.
Advanced spreadsheet capabilities in Google Sheets or Excel.
Experience using SQL or working directly with data warehouses.
