Role Overview

As Vapi expands, the product engineering team is specializing to target specific customer lifecycle outcomes, particularly in agent building and model management. This role focuses on ensuring users have access to advanced models and the configuration tools necessary to operate successful voice agents at scale. The ideal candidate will combine strategic product thinking with rapid execution alongside the engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

Take ownership of how users create, configure, and manage core voice agent building blocks.
Expand agent capabilities by driving the integrations and tools they can utilize during phone calls.
Manage the entire lifecycle of all supported models, handling everything from evaluation and onboarding to deprecation.
Establish reliable processes that continuously integrate the newest models onto the platform.
Define evidence-based measurement systems for model performance rather than relying on intuition.
Research and experiment with modern agentic harness techniques to translate emerging methods into valuable customer features.
Simplify complex configuration parameters to ensure advanced platform capabilities feel intuitive to users.

Requirements

Bring at least 5 years of product management experience, primarily focused on building and running technical products at scale within medium to large technology organizations.
Possess a robust technical foundation capable of reasoning through system design and architectural trade-offs alongside engineering peers.
Demonstrate outstanding communication and presentation skills suitable for aligning engineers, briefing executives, and engaging external clients.
Show a documented history of prioritizing business outcomes and impact over rigid processes.
Exhibit a strong customer-centric mindset with background experience in building B2B or enterprise products.

Nice to Have

Prior experience managing AI model integrations spanning LLM, TTS, or STT providers.
Direct professional background working in voice AI.
History of building API-first products, developer platforms, or infrastructure solutions.
Experience developing benchmarking or model evaluation systems.
