Role Overview

Relay is seeking a Senior Product Designer to help shape the future of small business banking and design the next generation of financial tools. This remote full-time role is well-suited for a dedicated designer with a user-centered mindset who is eager to transform financial complexity into clarity for entrepreneurs and business owners.

Key Responsibilities

Own the end-to-end design process, ranging from discovery and problem framing through prototyping to polished, production-ready interfaces.
Raise the craft bar by delivering elegant, intuitive, and aesthetically refined user experiences that make business banking delightful and clear.
Communicate design rationale through compelling storytelling and artifacts to establish alignment across product managers and engineers.
Act as a design leader by participating in weekly critiques, mentoring peers, and fostering an environment of continuous improvement.
Redesign permissions and notifications, simplify transaction and fraud workflows, and shape early versions of AI-driven cashflow forecasting tools.

Requirements

Bring 5 or more years of professional experience in product design with a proven history of delivering impactful work.
Possess direct background in designing SaaS-based products.
Demonstrate strong visual sensibility across typography, hierarchy, layout, flows, information architecture, and cross-platform design.
Advocate for robust design principles and explain design rationale with clarity to maintain product consistency.
Utilize generative and evaluative research methods to frame user problems, validate solutions, and ground design choices in real data.
Show familiarity with experimenting with AI tools for prototyping or user-facing features.

Nice to Have

Experience working in fintech, SaaS, or other complex system domains.
Background in designing platform-wide features such as permissions, notifications, or multi-tenant systems.
Familiarity with front-end development, motion design, or illustration.
Prior experience mentoring or coaching peer designers to elevate team craft.
