Lambda is currently seeking a Senior Network Engineer for their San Francisco office location. This full-time role suits an experienced infrastructure professional looking to scale high-performance AI cloud networks and support a fast-growing superintelligence cloud platform.

Role Overview

Lambda operates a leading AI cloud infrastructure serving numerous customers ranging from individual AI researchers to large enterprise hyperscalers. The Senior Network Engineer will focus on building, scaling, and maintaining robust data center networks. This position requires regular presence in the San Francisco office four days a week, with Tuesday designated as the work-from-home day.

Key Responsibilities

Design, construct, and expand high-performance cloud networking infrastructure.
Deploy, configure, and maintain networking hardware for both new and existing clusters.
Maintain high network availability through proactive monitoring, effective redundancy, and failover management.
Automate network configuration management, operational tasks, and network provisioning.
Collaborate with internal teams and external customers to troubleshoot and resolve network-related incidents.
Implement and oversee network monitoring and management tools.
Participate in ongoing day-two operations and share responsibilities in the network engineering on-call rotation.

Requirements

Ten or more years of overall background in the IT and networking domain.
At least six years of professional experience designing and operating production-grade data center networks.
Demonstrated history of leading large-scale production networking implementations.
Working knowledge of Next-Generation Firewalls such as Fortigate.
Background in public cloud networking environments like AWS, GCP, and OCI.
Mastery of CLOS and Spine-Leaf fabrics, EVPN/VXLAN, ECMP, BGP, and fast convergence methodologies.
Proficiency on the Linux command line alongside familiarity with the Linux networking stack and internal architecture.
Strong automation capabilities utilizing Python, Ansible, network APIs, and git version control.
Production usage of hardware from major networking vendors including Arista, Juniper, Cisco, Cumulus/SONiC, and Opengear.
Familiarity with monitoring stacks such as Datadog, Clickhouse, Grafana, Prometheus, gNMI, and OTel.

Nice to Have

Familiarity with Software Defined Networks (SDN).
Capability to automate cloud network configurations utilizing tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Salt.
Hands-on exposure to High-Performance Computing and AI networking technologies like RoCEv2, InfiniBand, and GPUDirect RDMA.
Background working with DWDM systems and SD-WAN technologies.
Knowledge regarding data center power, space, and cooling limitations affecting topology decisions.
Experience dealing with virtualization systems like ESXi, KVM, and virtual machine management.
Familiarity with load balancers such as F5 and NetScaler.
