Role Overview

The Senior Manager, Detection and Response role at Lambda involves leading the Detection and Response team to secure AI cloud infrastructure and protect valuable digital assets. This full-time position requires working from the Bellevue office four days a week with a designated remote day on Tuesday, and suits an experienced security leader with a background in building proactive threat management programs.

Key Responsibilities

Build, hire, and lead a high-performing Detection and Response team capable of scaling with the company's hypergrowth while maintaining 24/7 operational excellence.
Define and implement threat management frameworks that shift security operations from reactive firefighting to proactive threat hunting and automation.
Architect incident response processes, escalation frameworks, and triage protocols to protect multi-cloud and bare metal infrastructure.
Partner closely with Product and Platform engineering teams, lead cross-functional collaboration during critical events, and deliver a comprehensive strategy within the first six months.
Drive weekly operations reviews, establish sustainable on-call rotations, and foster a blameless post-incident culture focused on systemic improvements.

Requirements

Bring ten or more years of security experience, including at least five years of leading technical teams independently.
Demonstrate a proven ability to build security programs from the ground up that accelerate business initiatives.
Show expertise in developing automation-first security programs that eliminate repetitive toil.
Possess a clear understanding of the unique security requirements inherent to a cloud infrastructure provider.
Exhibit strong judgment in security response, balancing real business impact with calibrated actions in high-ambiguity environments.

Nice to Have

Excitement about leveraging direct access to state-of-the-art LLMs to revolutionize security operations through AI-powered threat hunting and automated reporting.
Prior experience building Detection and Response programs specifically at artificial intelligence and machine learning companies.
A track record of using artificial intelligence and machine learning for security operations automation.
Background in scaling security operations through rapid 10x hypergrowth phases.
Deep technical background that allows for hands-on contributions when necessary.
Experience evaluating build versus buy decisions for security tooling.
Experience driving or providing significant evidence for major compliance audits such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, or FedRAMP.
