Role Overview

In this capacity, the professional drives architecture, modeling decisions, and production paths for applied artificial intelligence programs. The role blends hands-on technical contribution with direct people management, leading a dedicated team of research engineers to deliver end-to-end solutions. The work focuses heavily on protecting hundreds of millions of users worldwide across multiple digital consumer brands.

Key Responsibilities

Provide hands-on technical guidance across diverse applied AI workstreams, including reinforcement learning, small language models, agentic AI, computer vision, and classical machine learning.
Manage, mentor, and grow a small team of research engineers, handling hiring, performance management, career development, and day-to-day coaching.
Own the complete applied AI lifecycle from problem framing, data strategy, and model training to deployment, observability, and continuous production improvement.
Personally contribute to complex technical challenges by prototyping novel approaches, reviewing model designs, and guiding training-run debugging on GPU clusters.
Translate business and security priorities into a structured applied AI roadmap while communicating trade-offs to senior leadership.
Partner closely with platform, MLOps, and product engineering teams to ensure models deploy successfully and measurably improve user outcomes.

Requirements

Holds a Master of Science or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Machine Learning, or a related quantitative field, or possesses equivalent practical deep-learning experience.
Brings at least five years of hands-on experience building and deploying machine learning and deep learning systems into production environments.
Demonstrates two to three years of experience leading or managing a small team of machine learning or research engineers.
Possesses deep technical expertise across modern transformer-based small language models, reinforcement learning variants, agentic systems, computer vision, or classical machine learning.
Exhibits expert proficiency in Python and PyTorch, alongside a strong mathematical foundation in linear algebra, optimization, probability, and statistics.
Shows a proven track record of taking AI models to production using containers, Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, and multi-GPU cluster training frameworks.
Demonstrates fluent English communication skills for operating within an international organization.

Nice to Have

Publications at top-tier machine learning venues such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, or CVPR.
Applied artificial intelligence experience within cybersecurity, digital privacy, or identity protection.
Practical familiarity with JAX or TensorFlow.
