Role Overview

Bland is hiring a full-time Senior Infrastructure Engineer to work on-site in San Francisco. This role is well-suited for an experienced engineer who wants to design the core distributed systems that power large-scale, real-time artificial intelligence phone calls.

Key Responsibilities

Design and build scalable distributed systems using Kubernetes to handle high-volume, real-time voice processing while meeting strict latency and reliability needs.
Create, optimize, and support machine learning infrastructure ranging from training pipelines to real-time inference serving across multiple regions.
Maintain reliable connections between the platform and enterprise phone systems, VoIP infrastructure, and SIP trunks.
Identify architectural flaws, monitor for potential system weaknesses, and proactively solve emerging challenges.
Establish monitoring, alerting, and incident response frameworks to guarantee 24/7 enterprise-grade platform uptime.
Anticipate and resolve rapid scaling challenges to ensure infrastructure outpaces exponential call volume growth.
Apply security best practices and meet compliance standards required by enterprise clients in regulated industries.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of professional experience building and scaling distributed systems.
Strong expertise in cloud infrastructure, with a preference for AWS or GCP.
Deep understanding of fundamental engineering concepts, including load balancing strategies and TLS.
Practical background in designing real-time systems that manage high-throughput, low-latency workloads and streaming data.
Adaptable startup mindset with a history of wearing multiple hats and resolving unpredictable challenges.
Balanced communication style that values opinion-driven progress alongside collaborative compromise.

Nice to Have

Practical experience connecting with telephony systems such as VoIP, SIP, and WebRTC.
Background focused on machine learning infrastructure, model serving, or GPU computing.
Previous involvement in real-time audio or video processing architectures.
