Lambda is seeking a Senior Electrical Delivery Engineer for a remote position within the United States to support advanced AI cloud infrastructure. This role involves managing, testing, and commissioning critical data center electrical systems, making it an ideal fit for experienced electrical professionals specializing in mission-critical facilities.
Role Overview
Lambda operates as a leader in AI cloud infrastructure, delivering high-performance computing capabilities to researchers, enterprises, and hyperscalers. The Senior Electrical Delivery Engineer plays a vital role in ensuring the electrical reliability, safety, and readiness of data center environments. Candidates will oversee site installations, guide energization activities, and validate system designs against company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct site walkdowns to inspect installed electrical systems against approved designs, single-line diagrams, and company standards.
Validate equipment ratings, protection settings, phasing, grounding, bonding, terminations, labeling, and redundancy.
Identify installation deficiencies, design conflicts, and operational risks while managing punch-list items to closure.
Review construction test results and witness factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, functional testing, and integrated systems testing.
Develop and review energization plans, MOPs, SOPs, EOPs, switching procedures, and electrical safety controls.
Support initial energization and troubleshoot issues involving substations, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, busway, PDUs, RPPs, and rack-level distribution.
Coordinate closely with design engineers, utilities, general contractors, electrical trades, equipment manufacturers, and commissioning agents.
Confirm that electrical capacity, voltage, redundancy, and protection are fully operational before IT equipment is energized.
Validate as-built documentation, equipment settings, test reports, and turnover packages prior to operational handoff.
Capture field lessons to improve design standards and mentor other engineers during high-risk energization activities.
Requirements
Significant professional background delivering, commissioning, or operating electrical systems in data centers, mission-critical facilities, utilities, or large industrial environments.
Comprehensive understanding of medium- and low-voltage distribution, including transformers, switchgear, protective relays, generators, UPS systems, busway, grounding, and rack-level power.
Ability to interpret single-line diagrams, equipment submittals, protection studies, relay settings, test reports, and construction documentation.
Hands-on expertise with site inspections, electrical testing, energization, commissioning, or operational turnover.
Knowledge of electrical safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, energized work controls, NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, and NETA requirements.
Capacity to make critical field decisions, escalate issues, and coordinate corrective work under strict schedule pressure.
Clear communication skills to interact effectively with construction teams, vendors, operators, and senior stakeholders.
Willingness to travel extensively and spend extended periods at active construction and commissioning sites.
Holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to Have
Experience commissioning hyperscale, colocation, HPC, or AI data centers.
Background supporting first energization and initial IT-load or GPU-cluster bring-up.
Familiarity with Level 1-5 commissioning, integrated systems testing, and operational-readiness processes.
Experience performing protective-relay testing, breaker testing, insulation-resistance testing, power-quality analysis, or infrared inspections.
Familiarity with tools such as ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, Procore, Bluebeam, or commissioning-management platforms.
Direct experience investigating electrical failures and leading root-cause analysis.
Professional Engineer licensure, commissioning certification, or NETA-related experience.
