Key Responsibilities

Deliver large new features, significant product improvements, and critical bug fixes like extending Agent Hooks across IDEs.
Make architectural decisions to keep integrations and public repositories scalable, secure, and aligned with 1Password authentication models.
Contribute to the team roadmap by identifying technical opportunities and risks up to six months ahead, leading execution accordingly.
Raise the quality bar by identifying lapses in code quality, spotting testing coverage gaps, and fostering documentation standards.
Ensure cross-functional alignment with Partnerships, Product, UX, and SDK/CLI teams to turn requirements into actionable work.
Drive initiatives to support platform customers and mitigate developer-facing challenges.
Foster a collaborative team environment by modeling best practices and offering constructive feedback.

Requirements

Significant professional software development experience with a track record of independently owning and delivering medium-to-large technical projects end to end.
Advanced, hands-on command of a modern development toolchain including Git, IDEs, terminal, debugging tools, and testing tools.
Comfort reading, writing, and reviewing code in the languages relevant to the open source team.
Experience designing extensible and maintainable systems such as developer tooling, IDE extensions, agent integrations, or active open source projects.
Demonstrated ability to set technical direction and make architectural decisions ensuring scalability, security, and high quality.
Track record of working effectively in public, engaging external contributors, and upholding high quality standards in community repositories.
Interest in agent-assisted development and building tools for smoother, more secure agent-assisted workflows.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to make project progress visible to stakeholders.
Security-minded approach consistent with company principles.

Nice to Have

Experience maintaining a popular open source project or managing open source community engagement.
Familiarity with AI-enabled or agentic IDEs like Cursor and the emerging agent-hook ecosystem.
Experience contributing to an Open Source Program Office or similar function.

Salary and Benefits

United States annual base salary: $153,000 USD to $214,000 USD.
Canada annual base salary: $144,000 CAD to $202,000 CAD.
