Role Overview

MoneyLion is seeking a motivated Senior Data Engineer to join the Data Platform & Martech Engineering team in New York or remotely. This professional will design, build, and scale data foundations that support analytics, customer engagement, marketing activation, AI initiatives, and financial products. The position requires a combination of software engineering expertise, data architecture skills, and modern cloud platform knowledge to deliver governed data products.

Key Responsibilities

Design and optimize scalable batch and streaming data platforms, ETL/ELT frameworks, and AI-ready data pipelines.
Architect and maintain enterprise-grade data models and semantic layers using Kimball dimensional modeling methodologies.
Partner with Product, Martech, Analytics, Data Science, and Engineering teams to build trusted analytical models for attribution and personalization.
Support customer data infrastructure and activation platforms to enable audience orchestration and journey automation.
Operationalize AI-powered solutions, intelligent agents, and data products that enhance business outcomes and developer productivity.
Enforce platform standards regarding schema evolution, data lineage, governance, and data quality SLAs.
Drive operational excellence through monitoring, alerting, schema drift detection, and incident response.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field.
Five or more years of experience designing and operating production-grade data platforms and distributed systems.
Demonstrated expertise in dimensional data modeling, star schemas, conformed dimensions, and Kimball methodologies.
Proven ability to write technical design documents and evaluate architectural trade-offs.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills to collaborate across technical and business teams.

Nice to Have

Master's degree in a relevant technical field.
Experience supporting customer data platforms and marketing technology ecosystems.
Background operating within fintech, financial services, adtech, or other highly regulated industries.

Skills and Tools

Expert-level SQL skills alongside proficiency in Python, Spark, or Java.
Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Redshift.
Familiarity with orchestration and transformation frameworks including Airflow, Dagster, and dbt.
Knowledge of streaming and event-driven architectures like Kafka, Kinesis, or Pub/Sub.
Experience with Martech and activation tools such as Hightouch, Segment, Iterable, and Amplitude.
Familiarity with AI-assisted development platforms like Cursor, Claude Code, or OpenAI.
