The Senior Backend Engineer position at CreatorIQ is a hands-on technical role based in Warsaw with remote flexibility, focusing on modernizing and scaling core backend systems. Key Responsibilities

Evolve an existing PHP monolithic codebase by progressively extracting it into modular, service-oriented components.
Design, build, and maintain scalable, testable, and reusable backend services utilizing PHP and Node.js.
Create and maintain robust RESTful and GraphQL APIs for the Enterprise API and Platform API Team.
Lead refactoring initiatives to enhance the performance, readability, and long-term maintainability of core systems.
Build, deploy, and operate services on AWS, including API Gateway and Lambda serverless patterns.
Write and maintain automated unit and integration test suites to guarantee reliability across all releases.
Critically review, validate, and refine AI-generated code from tools like GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT within IDEs.
Identify technical risks, bottlenecks, and platform opportunities while communicating decisions clearly across an async-first team.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of professional backend engineering experience.
Expert-level PHP experience working on enterprise-grade, production systems.
Strong backend experience utilizing Node.js.
Hands-on background refactoring or decomposing monolithic architectures into modular services.
Solid knowledge of API design, including REST and GraphQL principles.
Experience working with AWS, specifically serverless patterns and Lambda.
Demonstrated ability to write testable code and maintain automated test suites.
Experience utilizing AI coding tools in IDEs like VS Code or PhpStorm while critically reviewing outputs.
Professional fluency in written and spoken English.
Highly proactive, self-directed mindset suited for a remote, async-first environment.

Annual salary range of 299,000 to 359,000 PLN paid on an employment contract.
