Role Overview

As a Senior Backend Developer at Zeely AI, the professional joins a growing engineering department of 14 specialists building agentic AI tools for digital advertising. The position operates on a remote-first schedule, offering the flexibility to work from home or collaborate from regional hubs in Kyiv and Warsaw. The organization focuses on scaling its infrastructure to support market expansion, providing a collaborative environment alongside former tech leads and senior architects.

Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain robust web application backends and design RESTful APIs.
Manage database operations using PostgreSQL and Redis for optimal data handling.
Integrate diverse third-party APIs and deploy reliable services on Amazon Web Services infrastructure.
Write comprehensive unit and integration tests while monitoring and optimizing overall performance.
Troubleshoot complex issues, draft technical documentation, and perform thorough peer code reviews.

Requirements

At least 5 years of professional commercial experience building Node.js applications.
Minimum of 1 year working directly with microservices architecture.
At least 2 years of hands-on background utilizing PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Redis, including caching, indexing, and ORM tools.
Professional familiarity with Amazon Web Services and version control systems like Git.
At least 2 years of practical experience implementing message brokers.
Minimum of 1 year utilizing Docker and a solid comprehension of reliable system design principles.

Nice to Have

At least 1 year of professional usage of the NestJS framework.
Prior involvement integrating payment gateways or commercial AI application programming interfaces.
Possession of a valid AWS certification.
Hands-on background with Terraform or Pulumi infrastructure automation.
Previous exposure to high-load environments and cross-platform backends supporting iOS, Android, and web clients.
Upper-Intermediate English communication skills.
