Rogo is seeking a full-time Security Engineer, Cloud to lead cloud security architecture in New York City. This hands-on position suits an experienced practitioner who wants to build secure cloud platforms through automation and systems design.
Role Overview
This is a full-time engineering position based in New York City, reporting directly to the team. The person in this role will drive the technical direction of cloud security by designing secure primitives, authoring Terraform at scale, and shaping identity networks. The professional will operate as a senior technical leader who writes production code and establishes proactive security measures.
Key Responsibilities
Build and implement cloud security foundations across AWS and GCP, covering account structures, IAM models, network segmentation, and service communication.
Develop and manage Terraform-based security architecture, incorporating reusable modules, policy enforcement, and secure defaults.
Design and operate large-scale cloud identity systems, including workload identity, service accounts, and cross-cloud access.
Direct cloud networking security design, incorporating VPC architecture, private connectivity, egress control, and isolation boundaries.
Implement security automation within CI/CD pipelines and cloud environments to minimize manual work.
Oversee container and Kubernetes security for production workloads on GKE and EKS, focusing on cluster hardening and RBAC.
Establish monitoring, logging, and detection pipelines to secure the overall cloud posture.
Conduct threat modeling and architectural reviews for platform and infrastructure updates.
Review critical infrastructure changes and guide engineering teams on security practices.
Requirements
Experience building foundational cloud security platforms or infrastructure within AWS and GCP rather than only consuming managed services.
Deep fluency in Terraform, encompassing large-scale state management, module design, and rollout strategies.
Focus on secure systems and primitives over point solutions or isolated controls.
Strong expertise in cloud IAM and networking design based on practical experience.
Comfort working in ambiguous settings and setting long-term technical direction.
Preference for automation, code, and automated guardrails over manual review.
Ability to influence architecture through strong technical depth.
Nice to Have
Background in designing multi-account AWS organizations or large GCP project hierarchies.
Familiarity with policy-as-code tools such as OPA or custom policy engines.
Experience working with cloud-native detection and posture tools.
