Lambda is seeking a dedicated Security Engineer to join the team in San Francisco for a full-time role within the Data Center Business department. This position is well-suited for an experienced security professional who wants to build robust protection measures for high-value artificial intelligence infrastructure.

Role Overview

Lambda Security protects valuable digital assets like training data, model weights, and sensitive inputs required for advanced AI models. As a Security Engineer, the professional touches many parts of the security program including building detections, hardening infrastructure, reviewing designs, and responding to incidents. Operating primarily from the San Francisco office location with a hybrid schedule, the role reports directly to the Head of Security and partners closely with Product Engineering, Data Center Operations, IT, and Technical Program Managers.

Key Responsibilities

Build and tune detection content across SIEM and EDR platforms to catch threats targeting infrastructure, customer data, and model weights.
Participate in on-call rotations, lead end-to-end incident investigations, and create automation or playbooks to prevent future occurrences.
Remediate security findings and vulnerabilities directly in production alongside engineering teams.
Review high-level designs and code changes to provide actionable security feedback and establish reusable standards.
Develop Python or Go services to automate vulnerability triage, evidence collection, and other routine tasks using hosted large language models.
Balance long-term strategic fixes with tactical solutions to ensure measurable forward progress.

Requirements

Five or more years of demonstrated security engineering experience or equivalent background combining formal security training with strong engineering practice.
Proven track record of working across multiple security domains such as detection, architecture, platform work, or vulnerability management.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-ambiguity startup environment where priorities shift regularly.
Strong hands-on Linux experience protecting both applications and underlying cloud infrastructure.
Proficiency in solving problems using Python, Go, or similar languages with production-grade discipline.
Excellent collaboration skills when working alongside technical teams.

Nice to Have

Experience leading or developing a meaningful component of a security program.
Background driving or providing evidence for compliance audits like SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, or FedRAMP.
Experience operating large-scale production services or virtualization at scale.
History of building or deploying critical security infrastructure such as SIEM, SOAR, EDR, IDS/IPS, or honeypot systems.
Familiarity with AI and machine learning infrastructure security or protecting high-value computational workloads.
Enthusiasm for utilizing state-of-the-art LLMs to improve security operations.
