About this role

Role Overview

Sarvam AI is seeking a full-time Product Manager for Model APIs based in Bengaluru. This position suits an experienced professional with a background in developer platforms and AI who wants to shape the future of sovereign AI technology in India.

Key Responsibilities

Own the product surface for model APIs across speech, language, and multimodal technologies, covering specs, versioning, documentation, developer experience, and deprecation.
Shape model roadmaps alongside research leads by integrating evidence from usage, evaluations, and customer signals into training and release decisions.
Define and uphold quality standards for each model line, addressing accuracy, latency, cost per call, robustness, and production failure modes.
Manage evaluation as a product, including benchmark suites, online and offline tests, human evals, and progress reporting.
Translate customer and developer feedback into concrete API and model requirements.
Collaborate with infrastructure and platform teams to oversee rollout, monitoring, capacity, and production reliability.
Manage end-to-end release planning, including positioning, launches, and migration paths.
Communicate priorities and technical trade-offs across research, engineering, go-to-market, and leadership teams.

Requirements

Three or more years of experience building AI and ML products, developer platforms, or APIs.
Working fluency with the complete model lifecycle, encompassing data, training, fine-tuning, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
Strong analytical instincts with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
Sound judgment regarding the trade-offs between quality, latency, and cost.
Ability to build trust and work closely with research teams.

Nice to Have

Experience working with speech (ASR, TTS) or LLM APIs and associated metrics like WER, CER, MOS, TTFT, and tokens per second.
A proven track record of shipping and maintaining public or enterprise-facing APIs.
Hands-on familiarity with SQL, Python, or machine learning tooling.
Exposure to Indian language AI, multilingual systems, or evaluations for low-resource languages.
