Role Overview

The Product Designer, Roundtripping position at Figma involves improving how the platform understands production code and design systems. The professional chosen for this role will design workflows that move seamlessly from design to code and back again. Operating from the London hub or remotely across the UK, the designer will partner with engineers, product managers, and researchers to turn ambiguity into clarity while tackling complex technical problems.

Key Responsibilities

Shape and prototype new workflows that bring design and production code closer together, incorporating AI-powered experiences.
Contribute to overall strategy, product direction decisions, and clear storytelling around user needs and opportunities.
Collaborate cross-functionally with peers in product management, engineering, UX writing, data science, and research.
Create and iterate on flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity visuals while offering constructive feedback during design critiques.
Design and ship high-quality features and product improvements across Figma's core product surfaces.
Support the design organization's culture by mentoring peers and sharing best practices.

Requirements

3+ years of experience designing user experience and user interface for software products of similar scale and complexity.
Strong visual craft and attention to detail covering composition, typography, layout, interaction design, and prototyping.
Proven ability to independently drive end-to-end design processes from discovery through launch.
Capacity to balance user needs, technical constraints, and business goals.
Ability to guide decision-making using structured thinking, clear design rationale, and user-centered research.
Experience designing technically complex products, developer tools, or extensible platforms, alongside an understanding of software development workflows and APIs.

Nice to Have

Familiarity with web technologies like HTML and CSS, as well as AI coding tools such as Codex, Cursor, or Claude Code.
Strong understanding of advanced Figma features including Auto Layout, Variables, and Components.
Hands-on experience building with web technologies, APIs, CLIs, MCP, or model evaluations.
Background working on canvas-based interfaces or creative workflow tools.
Prior work involving the creation, maintenance, or contribution to design systems.
