Simplifying the interaction between complex AI model constraints and user agency requires a skilled designer to shape the generative-media workspace known as the AI Playground. Synthesia seeks a Staff-level product designer to guide the evolution of this multi-format creation hub, ensuring users can seamlessly transition experimental clips and motion graphics into polished enterprise videos within Synthesia Studio. Operating as a senior individual contributor, the person in this role will define design direction, prototype new interaction models, and establish product standards alongside engineering and product leaders.

What you will do
- Own the end-to-end evolution of the AI Playground from a single-format surface into a scalable multi-format creation hub.
- Set the design direction for discovery, experimentation, and iteration across various media formats while maintaining coherence with adjacent product areas.
- Partner closely with product and engineering teams to define quality bars, design principles, and success metrics.
- Prototype and test interaction models rapidly, utilizing low-fidelity and high-fidelity methods strategically to drive learning.
- Raise the overall standard for prompt user experience, format balance, iteration workflows, and the feel of high-speed creation with AI.
What you need
- Bring significant experience designing creation tools or generative-media platforms focused on rapid exploration and output refinement.
- Demonstrate strong craft in interaction and visual design with a proven track record of shipping delightful experiences for complex workflows.
- Possess deep comfort designing around AI model constraints to build user experiences that work alongside limitations rather than ignoring them.
- Apply robust systems thinking to manage the dual nature of the Playground as both a standalone destination and an on-ramp to Studio.
- Show experience designing multi-format products capable of scaling beyond an initial focused surface.
- Communicate effectively during design reviews and cross-functional tradeoffs between user delight and business goals.
