Role Overview

Figma is expanding its team of creators and builders focused on making design accessible to everyone. In this position, professionals will tackle complex challenges and transform ambiguity into clarity across surfaces like Figma Editor, AI, Interactivity, Design Systems, and Dev Tools. Designers work closely with engineering, product management, and research peers to invent new ways for individuals to design and build products collaboratively in real time.

Key Responsibilities

Shape overall strategy and direct product decisions for future growth.
Deliver and refine storytelling regarding product needs and future opportunities.
Collaborate cross-functionally with research, design, engineering, and product management peers.
Build and iterate on user flows, high-fidelity visuals, and prototypes while offering thoughtful feedback to colleagues.
Design and launch high-quality features and enhancements across core product surfaces.
Participate in design critiques, mentor peers, and share best practices to foster design culture.

Requirements

Three or more years of professional experience designing UX and UI for complex software products.
Strong visual craft with high attention to typography, layout, and composition.
Proficiency in interaction design and prototyping for refined user decisions.
Demonstrated ability to independently manage design processes from discovery to launch while balancing technical constraints and business goals.
Structured thinking capabilities to guide decision-making through user-centered research and clear rationales.
Experience transforming ambiguous problems in complex systems into simple, goal-oriented solutions.
Prior background in researching, prototyping, or constructing products using AI and emerging creative tools.

Nice to Have

Familiarity with web technologies like HTML and CSS, advanced Figma features including Variables, Auto Layout, and Components, or prototyping utilities like Origami.
A design and development hybrid background or prior experience building applications and websites.
Background working on canvas-based tools supporting creative workflows.
Previous involvement in creating, maintaining, or contributing to formal design systems.
