The Principal Product Designer, AI and Innovation role is a senior design position based in Mountain View, California, focused on creating next-generation consumer experiences powered by artificial intelligence. Key Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end product design for high-impact initiatives within the AI and Innovation portfolio, moving work from initial framing and concepts through launch and iteration.
Design intuitive and trustworthy interactions for browser-based products, agentic apps, and emerging technologies, including navigation, conversational flows, onboarding, and automated actions.
Shape reusable product patterns, principles, and a shared design language across the portfolio to accelerate learning and consistency.
Bring clarity to ambiguous challenges using low-fidelity concepts, prototypes, and experiments that foster shared understanding.
Collaborate with product, engineering, research, marketing, and business stakeholders to turn complex opportunities into polished, production-ready experiences.
Leverage AI-assisted design tools, generative prototyping, and emerging workflows to increase velocity and explore more creative possibilities.
Maintain design system consistency while evolving new patterns specifically for browser, agentic, and AI-first surfaces.
Validate design decisions and refine experiences using research, usability testing, product data, and customer insights.

Requirements

Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in product or UX design, featuring a proven track record of shipping consumer web or software products.
Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Exceptional end-to-end design abilities covering strategy, user experience, interaction, visual design, and prototyping.
Experience designing trustworthy, human-centered interactions for automation, permissions, and AI systems.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment while handling concurrent initiatives and shifting priorities.
Strong collaboration, communication, and facilitation skills to influence product direction and align cross-functional partners.

Nice to Have

Prior professional experience designing web browsers or working directly with AI-powered, conversational, or agentic consumer experiences.

Skills and Tools

Advanced proficiency in Figma and modern design or prototyping tools.
Fluency and curiosity regarding AI-assisted design tools and emerging workflows.
Skill in evolving mature design systems across multiple products and surfaces.
