Role Overview

The Platform Support Site Reliability Engineer focuses on running and refining shared foundations such as containers, networks, authentication, and monitoring for PlayStation's global online services. This position involves driving standardization and automation using AI to modernize operational models continuously. The engineer acts as an enabler for internal development teams, providing deep expertise to help them leverage platforms safely and efficiently. By collaborating closely with application development, platform engineering, and technical operations teams, the individual in this role ensures high scalability, reliability, and smooth developer experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Manage shared platform operations while driving the standardization and automation of routine tasks to continuously improve workflows.
Execute newly arising or complex operational tasks directly, evolve them into repeatable processes using AI-driven automation, and transfer them to execution teams.
Provide technical support, investigate issues, and spread best practices to internal engineering teams using the shared platforms.
Coordinate with application and platform development teams to design and implement solutions that elevate reliability, operability, and developer experience.
Cooperate with global teams, including units in the United States, to establish a Follow the Sun operational model and harmonize processes across borders.

Requirements

Practical background in designing, building, or operating services within public cloud environments.
Hands-on history with incident investigation and troubleshooting spanning systems, infrastructure, networks, or applications.
Experience driving the automation and efficiency of operational or routine tasks utilizing AI or scripting.
Business-level fluency in Japanese communication.
Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with global teams in English through both verbal and written channels.
Interpersonal skills required to coordinate smoothly with internal engineering users and cross-functional stakeholders.

Nice to Have

Familiarity with observability platforms, monitoring solutions, or APM tools.
Design and implementation practice using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
Software development capabilities for automation and operational tools using Python, Go, JavaScript, or comparable languages.
Operation background with large-scale distributed systems.
Exposure to cloud networking, DNS, traffic management, certificate management, identity and access management, or configuration management.
Background in operating services within regulated or compliance-driven environments.
Experience utilizing BPO, offshore, or shared services to standardize and delegate business processes.
Contributions to technical certifications, communities, open-source projects, or related initiatives.
Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical work experience.
