About this role
Perplexity needs a dedicated motion designer to solve the challenge of scaling video storytelling and go-to-market output across social channels. The Brand and Creative Studio team builds visual narratives that communicate the company's story, relying heavily on video as a primary communication vehicle. The incoming specialist will focus on concepting, animating, and shipping rapid, polished GTM materials while helping establish foundational motion principles and exploring AI-assisted workflows.
Operating in a high-output environment, the person in this role collaborates closely with the Producer, Brand, Growth, and Comms groups to maintain a steady production pipeline. Success requires a solid command of animation fundamentals, a deep portfolio of social and campaign content, and the ability to balance speed with high aesthetic standards. Ideal candidates are comfortable managing multiple deliverables simultaneously and know precisely when motion enhances a narrative.
What you will do
- Manage the end-to-end creation of motion graphics and video content for social channels, handling everything from initial concepts and storyboards to final animation and delivery.
- Prioritize video production to maintain a consistent, high-volume output of polished, on-brand motion assets.
- Develop ideas across 2D and 3D formats, transitioning smoothly from styleframes and animatics to finished products.
- Collaborate directly with the Brand and Growth teams to translate product launches and campaigns into engaging social motion content.
- Help define Perplexity's motion principles, design systems, and reusable templates so the broader team can scale motion output consistently.
- Engage in creative technologist explorations by experimenting with new tools, techniques, and AI-assisted workflows.
- Work alongside the Producer to scope projects, manage schedules, and deliver assignments on time.

- Show expert proficiency in After Effects and the wider Adobe Creative Suite alongside comfort working in Figma.
- Possess the ability to operate quickly, juggle multiple deliverables, and iterate rapidly within a high-output environment.
- Maintain a strong editorial sense regarding when motion adds clarity or emotion versus when a static image is more appropriate.
