As a Mid AI Engineer, you will build and maintain backend services, APIs, and data pipelines using Python while implementing retrieval-augmented generation workflows. Your daily work involves troubleshooting production issues across models and data stores, as well as collaborating closely with product and platform teams to ensure reliability and performance.
This role suits an independent engineer with two to four years of background in software, data, or machine learning engineering who enjoys balancing technical quality with cost and system efficiency.
What you will do
- Develop core components for artificial intelligence and large language model solutions and deploy them into production environments.
- Build and maintain robust services, APIs, and data pipelines using Python.
- Manage SQL data transformations and data quality measures to support underlying models.
- Implement and maintain retrieval-augmented generation pipelines and prompt workflows.
- Troubleshoot technical issues across data layers, machine learning models, and production infrastructure.
- Partner with product, platform, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver scalable applications.
What you need
- Bring two to four years of professional experience in software engineering, data engineering, machine learning engineering, or artificial intelligence.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently within a defined project scope.
- Show strong proficiency in SQL and data management principles including validation and transformation.
- Write clean, maintainable Python code and build functional APIs backed by automated testing.
- Possess practical experience developing generative artificial intelligence solutions for production or production-like settings.
- Understand common large language model challenges such as hallucinations, grounding errors, and prompt brittleness.
- Utilize Git, continuous integration and deployment pipelines, logging, and monitoring tools effectively.
