Role Overview

Fireworks AI is seeking a Full Stack Member of Technical Staff in San Mateo, with remote flexibility, to design, build, and scale the developer-focused web application at fireworks.ai. This position suits an experienced software engineer who wants to combine hands-on coding with technical leadership in a fast-paced artificial intelligence environment.

Key Responsibilities

Take complete engineering ownership of the fireworks.ai platform, stretching from the user interface down to the API and data layers.
Contribute directly to product-led growth initiatives through the main web application, model playground, and smooth user onboarding flows.
Design, build, and test responsive frontend applications alongside robust, scalable backend services and APIs.
Provide mentorship and support to full stack, frontend, and backend team members through code reviews, pairing, and technical coaching.
Establish and implement full stack architectural standards, database schemas, and modern development workflows.
Collaborate across departments with Product, Design, and Core AI or Infrastructure teams to align on system design and delivery expectations.
Construct and maintain reusable component libraries while ensuring modular backend integrations.
Unify the developer journey across web, SDK, and CLI surfaces.
Champion application performance, security, data integrity, and accessibility.
Drive innovation by monitoring emerging cloud-native technologies, full stack trends, and AI orchestration frameworks.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in full stack software development.
At least 2 years of experience operating in a technical leadership capacity such as a tech lead, team lead, or engineering manager.
Strong frontend expertise utilizing React, TypeScript, JavaScript, and Next.js.
Solid backend proficiency in building server-side applications, designing APIs, and utilizing languages like Node.js, Python, or Go.
Clear understanding of database systems including SQL and NoSQL, along with data modeling and caching strategies.
Demonstrated history of delivering and scaling production-grade full stack web applications.
Familiarity with modern cloud infrastructure like AWS or GCP, containerization via Docker, and full stack CI/CD pipelines.

Nice to Have

Practical background in AI or machine learning environments, interacting with LLM APIs, vector databases, or orchestration tools such as LangChain.
Prior startup experience, particularly as an early engineer or technical founder.
Experience fostering people growth, career development, and providing performance feedback to engineers.
Background in constructing developer platforms, SaaS dashboards, or interactive sandboxes and playgrounds.
Contributions to open-source software, developer tools, or internal component libraries.
