About this role

Tessl is seeking a mid-level Events Marketing Specialist based in New York to run the growing US events program on the ground. This full-time remote-friendly role suits an organized operator who excels at executing community meetups, developer chapters, conferences, and field events for a fast-growing AI startup.

Role Overview

The Events Marketing Specialist will own operational delivery for events across the United States, managing everything from timelines and budgets to vendors and venues. Tessl relies on events to build genuine relationships with developers, customers, and partners. Operating with high autonomy because the broader team sits outside the US, this role requires a hands-on doer who can turn agreed plans into reality, troubleshoot calmly, and share growth impact metrics with international colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

Manage end-to-end operational delivery for US events, including timelines, run-of-shows, budgets, vendors, venues, catering, audiovisual needs, signage, swag, and shipping.
Act as the primary on-the-ground owner, calmly resolving any last-minute issues before doors open.
Support the developer community program by helping chapter leaders navigate logistics, formats, venues, promotion, and swag while building repeatable resources.
Coordinate Tessl's presence at third-party conferences and support commercial B2B activations with Sales and Partnerships, such as booths, sponsorships, side events, and dinners.
Work alongside Marketing, Community, and Sales to ensure every event has a solid promotion plan, spotting low registration counts early and identifying local target communities.
Maintain a single source of truth for each event, surfacing risks and blockers early with proposed fixes while collaborating across time zones with UK-based teams.

Requirements

A few years of hands-on experience running events, field marketing, or community events from planning through live delivery.
Excellent organizational and project management skills with strong attention to detail across multiple simultaneous events.
Proactive communication habits that keep stakeholders informed without needing to be asked.
Good judgment and the confidence to make sensible independent decisions.
Experience managing external vendors, venues, and event partners.
Willingness to get hands-on with operational tasks, from discussing plans with senior stakeholders to tracking down missing shipments.
Comfort working in a fast-moving company environment alongside a distributed international team.

Nice to Have

Background in developer, technology, or startup community events.
Experience supporting community chapters, ambassador programs, or meetup organizers.
Dual experience in community-focused and commercial B2B or field event execution.
Familiarity with the New York technology and developer ecosystem.
Prior experience promoting events through email, social channels, community outreach, or local marketing.

Project management and operational organization
Vendor and budget management
Event logistics, venue coordination, and on-site troubleshooting
