Lawyers struggle to integrate complex artificial intelligence into their daily practice without losing the precision required for high-stakes legal work. Harvey addresses this operational gap by deploying former practicing attorneys as Legal Engineers who bridge the divide between frontier agentic AI and top-tier legal workflows. Working across pre-sales, post-sales, and custom solutions subgroups, team members lead client discovery, build bespoke agents, and turn real legal processes into scalable platform solutions.
Incoming engineers will directly support the customer lifecycle by designing tailored workflows, conducting live demonstrations, and translating professional legal requirements into product improvements. The position suits former attorneys who possess a deep curiosity about artificial intelligence, solid executive presence, and a pragmatic mindset oriented toward client enablement. Success in the role requires operating with intensity, staying close to customers, and maintaining high standards while helping shape the future of professional services.
What you will do
- Lead discovery, live product demonstrations, and trainings alongside account executives and customer success managers.
- Engage with leading law firms and corporate legal teams throughout the pre-sales and post-sales customer journey.
- Translate real legal work and workflows into functional Harvey solutions, pilots, and custom-built applications.
- Design bespoke resources including agents and playbooks using natural language prompting to automate specific processes.
- Bring prospect and customer feedback back into the product organization to help shape future platform releases.
- Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders such as general counsel and practice group heads.
What you need
- Hold a Juris Doctor degree or an equivalent legal qualification.
- Bring at least three years of experience practicing law in-house, at a top-tier law firm, or advising sophisticated corporate legal teams.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of legal workflows, demands, and the balance between legal risk and business priorities.
- Exhibit executive presence and relationship-building skills to establish credibility with stakeholders at all levels.
- Possess outstanding communication and presentation abilities for leading live demos and facilitating client workshops.
- Maintain a deep curiosity about artificial intelligence combined with a practical, solutions-oriented mindset.

Compensation ranges from $220,000 to $320,000 USD on-target earnings with a 75/25 split, alongside offered equity and commission.
Where is the role located and is travel required?
The position is based in Boston. Applicants may be asked to travel around two to three or more times per month for significant business needs lasting one to three days at a time.
What subgroups exist within the Legal Engineering team?
The function is segmented into three teams: Pre-Sales Legal Engineers, Product Specialists for post-sales, and Custom Solutions engineers handling pre- and post-sales.
