Fireworks AI seeks an IT DevOps Engineer to join the team in San Mateo with remote flexibility available. This position is ideal for an experienced professional with a background in building production systems and a strong drive for workflow automation.

Role Overview

The IT DevOps Engineer will own and improve the systems that bridge model deployment gaps, managing CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code stacks, and automation layers. Working as a peer to Platform Engineering, this role offers high autonomy, minimal bureaucracy, and direct impact on enterprise AI infrastructure serving billions of daily API requests.

Key Responsibilities

Design, deploy, and maintain mission-critical workflows utilizing n8n or similar orchestrators with robust error-handling mechanisms.
Replace manual operational steps and engineering alerts with event-driven automation.
Build custom nodes, webhooks, and functions to expand off-the-shelf integration capabilities.
Design and secure internal and external integrations across REST, GraphQL, and webhooks using robust authentication methods.
Manage high-throughput data flows, handling rate limits, retries, backpressure, and payload validation.
Co-own CI/CD pipelines with Platform Engineering to ensure zero-downtime AI model and infrastructure deployments.
Provision and manage multi-cloud environments utilizing Terraform, OpenTofu, or Pulumi.
Package and scale GPU and CPU workloads on Kubernetes environments across AWS or GCP.
Implement comprehensive observability using monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog.

Requirements

At least 6 years of professional experience building production systems.
Strong programming skills in Python alongside JavaScript or TypeScript.
Hands-on expertise with workflow orchestration tools like n8n or Temporal.
Deep understanding of API design, payloads, endpoints, and associated authentication mechanisms.
Proven track record of owning CI/CD pipelines at scale using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
Production experience with Kubernetes on AWS or GCP, paired with Terraform infrastructure management.
