Role Overview

The iOS Engineer, Applied AI position at Citizen is an on-site role based in New York City within the PEDD department. This position suits an exceptional iOS developer who wants to build the next version of a leading safety app alongside the founder using AI agents.

Key Responsibilities

Own real pieces of the core consumer iOS app, including live video streaming, broadcast features, real-time alerts, maps, and paid experiences.
Collaborate daily with backend, design, product, and data teams, as well as internal operators using Citizen Live.
Participate in a rotational Release Captain program to manage end-to-end weekly releases, phased rollouts, and crash triages.
Utilize AI agents to draft, review, test, and instrument code, extending the agent loops currently in the repository.
Instrument code via Segment and BigQuery to ensure data accuracy and track user funnels.
Drive new product initiatives from conception to App Store delivery.

Requirements

Experience shipping and owning a consumer iOS app used by millions.
Deep expertise in Swift and the Apple platform, covering Swift 6 concurrency, networking, background execution, location, push notifications, and camera/video.
Professional experience working with The Composable Architecture (TCA) or a comparable unidirectional architecture at scale.
Familiarity with modular Swift Package Manager (SPM) codebases.
Hands-on experience running a mobile release cycle including CI, TestFlight, crash triage, and hotfixes.
Background in building real-time or live media features under poor network conditions.
Demonstrated experience building with AI agents and integrating them into software development workflows.
Ability to work on-site in New York City every single day.
