Frontdesk AI is seeking an Infra / Platform Engineer for a full-time position based in San Francisco. This role suits a pragmatic builder with over four years of experience who wants to establish the technical foundation for an early-stage AI product team.

Role Overview

The selected candidate will own the core infrastructure and platform systems that support the company's AI-driven matching, voice, and scheduling tools. Working alongside the founding team, this professional will design and scale the cloud architecture, data pipelines, and deployment layers to ensure maximum speed, security, and reliability from day one.

Key Responsibilities

Design and administer cloud infrastructure using an AWS-first approach and Infrastructure-as-Code via Terraform.
Set up robust CI/CD pipelines utilizing GitHub Actions, Docker, and Kubernetes for safe iteration.
Develop and maintain scalable data ingestion and orchestration pipelines for product analytics and machine learning.
Manage and optimize PostgreSQL databases, incorporating pgvector for embeddings alongside analytical warehouses.
Partner with machine learning engineers to monitor, deploy, and evaluate matching and LLM models for inference and retraining.
Establish comprehensive observability practices including logging, metrics, tracing, and alerts across backend services and model endpoints.
Ensure high scalability and reliability for web, mobile, and agentic workflows.

Requirements

Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in data, platform, or infrastructure engineering, ideally within high-growth or startup settings.
Proficient in Python, TypeScript, and scripting languages such as Bash or YAML.
Comprehensive knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS or GCP and Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform or Pulumi.
Hands-on expertise with containerization tools including Docker and Kubernetes or ECS.
Demonstrated success in operating distributed systems and building data pipelines.
Familiarity with PostgreSQL, data modeling, schema design, and vector extensions like pgvector.
Solid grounding in DevOps principles covering security, cost optimization, and observability.
Strong sense of ownership, collaborative attitude, and a focus on shipping reliable systems quickly.

Nice to Have

Practical exposure to artificial intelligence and machine learning workflows, covering model training, monitoring, inference, and feature stores.
