Role Overview

In this Capetown-based role within Business Operations, the engineer focuses on developing, testing, and refining prompts, monitoring AI answer quality, expanding search indexes for retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and integrating new APIs. The daily work directly empowers client users to operate more productively and successfully inside the partnership management platform by utilizing Google Cloud's Vertex AI products to maintain the Copilot agent feature.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain and improve the Copilot agent feature using Google Cloud Vertex AI.
Integrate external and internal impact APIs via function calling and actions to expand agent capabilities.
Upgrade analytics capabilities by integrating new datasets and adding context to the agent search index.
Design and implement tools to monitor and evaluate response quality, accuracy, and correctness.
Apply reinforcement learning, adapter tuning, and advanced methods alongside prompts and context.
Test and evaluate emerging LLMs as they become available on the market.
Collaborate with full-stack engineers to launch features in the user interface and deploy content generation tools.
Partner with product managers to estimate effort, prototype, build, and deploy new enhancements.
Coordinate with the Google solutions team to report bugs, provide feedback, and resolve technical gaps.
Research and track the latest advancements in artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
Minimum of 1 year of professional working experience in Generative AI, or extensive demonstrable personal projects.
Strong comprehension of LLM and GPT concepts alongside prompt engineering proficiency.
Solid working knowledge of Python.
Experience writing SQL queries or using data visualization tools like Looker, Power BI, or Tableau.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong collaborative skills for working in cross-functional teams with high adaptability.

Nice to Have

Experience with machine learning libraries and frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Apache MLlib, or Scikit-learn.
Background working inside Google Cloud's (GCP) environment.
Familiarity with JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, or Scala.
Prior industry background in marketing or advertising.
Startup or fast-paced working environment experience.
Affiliate & Partnerships Industry Fundamentals Certification by PXA.
