Role Overview

Elastic is looking for a Full-Stack Senior Software Engineering professional to operate as a 100% individual contributor within the IT Software Engineering group, reporting to the Director of IT Software Engineering. The position focuses on transitioning from a SaaS procurement model to an agile Build and Buy strategy by building internal enterprise applications and conversational AI bots. The engineer will handle technical design, development, and production deployment while utilizing modern AI coding assistants to accelerate delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Design and ship full-stack applications using React, TypeScript, and Node.js to replace legacy software tools.
Architect and deploy intelligent internal bots leveraging LLMs, vector search, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation for employee workflows.
Connect internal applications directly to Elasticsearch and Kibana.
Accelerate delivery speed using AI coding assistants such as Cursor, Claude, and Copilot.
Maintain high code quality through automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, feature flags, and on-call rotations for production uptime.

Requirements

Eight or more years of hands-on full-stack development experience building and operating production web applications with React, TypeScript, and Node.js.
Practical experience with Elasticsearch data modeling, indexing, query optimization, and Kibana dashboard integration.
Background in AI and bot engineering involving LLM APIs, vector search, RAG pipelines, or conversational frameworks.
Daily proficiency with AI coding tools like Cursor, Claude, or GitHub Copilot.
Operational and testing maturity including automated testing libraries, CI/CD pipelines, feature flags, and on-call rotation participation.

Nice to Have

Experience with internal developer portals, FinOps platforms, or enterprise ticketing systems.
Exposure to advanced Elastic Stack features like ELSER semantic search, hybrid vector search, or Elastic ML.
Background replacing legacy enterprise platforms with custom software.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
Strong communication skills to translate business needs into technical architectures.

Salary and Benefits

The base salary range is $133,100 to $210,600 USD, with select high-cost locations ranging from $159,900 to $252,900 USD. The role is eligible for Elastic's stock program and a company-matched 401(k) up to 6%. Additional benefits include health coverage, flexible schedules, vacation days, donation matching, volunteer time, and a minimum of 16 weeks of parental leave.
