Role Overview

As a Forward Deployed Engineer at Cartesia, the professional will embed directly with enterprise customers to deliver agentic voice AI solutions into production environments. The position maximizes customer success by transforming core products into high-impact, deployed solutions while turning customer feedback into platform leverage for engineering and product teams.

Key Responsibilities

Write and ship production-grade code to design, build, and deploy voice AI systems for real enterprise workflows.
Own deployments end-to-end, leading discovery, architecture, implementation, and rollout for strategic customer engagements.
Navigate ambiguity by moving projects forward when requirements are incomplete or systems face unexpected failures.
Deliver across complex infrastructure, deploying across cloud, VPC, and on-prem environments while handling security and compliance.
Unblock critical integrations by diagnosing and resolving integration failures and performance bottlenecks.
Drive expansion by identifying new use cases and prototyping solutions that deepen customer adoption.
Surface recurring patterns to product teams and transform one-off solutions into repeatable playbooks and reference architectures.

Requirements

Minimum of 4 years of experience building and operating production software systems.
Strong backend engineering fundamentals with a track record of delivering reliable systems.
Experience integrating APIs and distributed services into real-world infrastructure.
Comfort operating across cloud and containerized environments including AWS, GCP, and Kubernetes.
Experience navigating enterprise constraints such as authentication, networking, observability, and security reviews.
Ability to take ambiguous problems, define structure, and drive them to resolution independently.
High ownership, a strong bias for action, and clear, structured communication skills.

Nice to Have

Experience in forward-deployed, solutions, implementation, or customer-facing engineering roles.
Prior experience deploying AI or machine learning systems into production environments.
Familiarity with real-time systems like voice, streaming APIs, telephony, or low-latency setups.
Experience handling on-premises or hybrid infrastructure deployments.
Multilingual fluency or experience supporting customers across international markets.
Prior startup or founder experience.
